Introduction
With AutoKB you can have multiple administrators each with their own privileges. This gives you the opportunity to allow several people to create and
manage the artciles while not being able to access other features of the control panel. This document will describe how you can create and manage administrators
through the control panel.
Adding An Administrator
To add an administrator, click on the Manage Administrators link in the control panel interface. You will be taken to the administrator management interface.
Near the top of the page you will find a button that you can click on to Add an Administrator.
Once you are on the administrator creation page you will see a form that you will need to fill in. Each of the form fields is described below.
Username - This is the username that the new administrator will use to access the control panel
Password - This is the password that the new administrator will use to access the control panel
Name - This is the real name of the new administrator
E-mail Address - This is the e-mail address of the new administrator.
Privileges - These are the privileges available to the new administrator. More info below.
Once you have filled in each of the form fields with appropriate values, press the Add Administrator button. AutoKB will add the new administrator to the
database and they will be able to access the control panel with the username and password entered. You will be able to manage all of the administrators
through the administrator management interface, which is explained in detail in this document.
Privileges
Each administrator can have their own set of privileges which will determine what they are allowed to do in the control panel. Each of the available
privileges is described below.
All privileges - This will give the administrator access to all functions
Create new articles - This will allow the administrator to create new articles
Approve articles for display - This will allow the administrator to approve newly created articles
Delete articles - This will allow the administrator to delete articles
Edit articles - This will allow the administrator to edit articles
Manage categories - This will allow the administrator to create, edit and delete categories
Manage suggestions - This will allow the administrator to create, edit and delete suggestions
Manage comments - This will allow the administrator to create, edit and delete comments
Manage administrators - This will allow the administrator to create, edit and delete administrators
Manage the glossary - This will allow the administrator to create, edit and delete glossary words
Manage bad words - This will allow the administrator to create, edit and delete bad words
Manage empty searches - This will allow the administrator to create, edit and delete empty searches
Manage software variables and options - This will allow the administrator to edit the software options
Backup and restore the database - This will allow the administrator to backup and restore the database
Edit template files - This will allow the administrator to edit the template files
Manage attachments - This will allow the administrator to create, edit and delete attachments
Viewing Administrators
To see all of the administrators that currently exist in the database, click on the Manage Administrators link in the control panel interface. The page that comes
up will show you all of the administrators that have access to the control panel. From this interface you can edit, delete, and view information about each
administrator. Each of the columns is described below.
Username - This is the word/phrase you want to disallow
Name - This is the type of matching that is done for this word
E-mail - This is the action that will be performed if this word is found
Actions - These are actions that can be performed on the administrator.
Click on the
icon to delete the administrator.
Click on the
icon to edit the administrator.
Editing an Administrator
To edit one of the administrators, click on it's

icon. AutoKB will load a page where you can edit the name, e-mail address,
and privileges for the administrator account. Once you have made the changes that you want, press the Update Administrator button to save the changes.
You will be returned to the administrator management interface where the changes will be visible. Note that you cannot change an administrator's password
through this interface. For security purposes, only the administrator themself can change their password.
Deleting an Administrator
To delete one of the administrators, click on it's

icon. A javascript confirmation window will pop-up asking you if you
are sure that you want to delete the administrator. Press the ok button to confirm that you want to delete the administrator. AutoKB will remove
the administrator from the database and they will no longer be able to access the control panel. Any articles created by the administrator that is being
deleted will be modified and listed as being created by the administrator that deleted the creator's administrator account.
